Montreal California Wine Experience
Over 500 trade and consumers attended the California Wine Experience in Montreal!
On June 29, 2022, the California Wine Experience returned to the Old Port of Montreal after a three-year hiatus. The wine experience was a reinvention of the previous “wine fairs” that toured major cities in Canada. This year’s event showcased over 300 wines from 80 California export member wineries. The Experience featured the Wines on a Mission exhibit exploring sustainability and led the guests to explore and discover the regional diversity of California with Lodi, Central Coast, Sonoma and Napa themed areas. Elaine Chukan Brown led a Masterclass, Emerging California, highlighting the history of varieties and regions of California wine since its founding in the mid-1800s, and how these wines reveal the state’s incredible potential today.
The event was a huge success, despite the many challenges of securing trade, with over 250 trade guests including the SAQ buyer as well as many of Montreal’s top sommeliers, educators, and product consultants. During the trade session we hosted a special guest, the Acting US Consulate General from Montreal, Elizabeth Ategou who met our vintners and agents. The evening session was sold out with over 300 consumers attending the experience. The event garnered online attention and a segment on Montreal’s top francophone back-to-home radio show, Le Québec Maintenant! We hope more of our producers will be able to attend in person for our 2023 event!
