Japan Proposes GI Protection for 14 Alcoholic Beverages from European Union Member States 2026
Japan’s National Tax Agency (NTA) published a list of 14 proposed geographical indications (GIs) for alcoholic beverages from European Union Member States, including Greece, Spain, France, Hungary, Italy, Lithuania, Malta, Portugal, and Slovakia. The NTA will accept public comments on the proposal by June 1, 2026.
