Ghana Exporter Guide 2025

In 2024, Ghana’s imports of U.S.-origin food and agricultural products rose to \$147 million, a 27 percent increase from the \$107 million recorded in 2023. The fastest-growing segment was consumer-oriented food products, with imports reaching \$121 million—a 30 percent rise from the previous year. Ghana’s economy is recovering from the 2022 financial crisis, during which the country defaulted on its debt, and consumer preferences and spending on food products are improving accordingly. Despite the recovery, Ghana continues to rely on official multilateral credit inflows as it undergoes debt restructuring and remains excluded from international financial markets. While domestic agricultural output may grow over time, imports are unlikely to be significantly reduced in the near term due to persistent fiscal and administrative challenges.
