Taiwan-New Zealand Free Trade Agreement Revels Taiwan's Strong Trade

Report Highlights: On July, 10, 2013 the representative offices of Taiwan and New Zealand signed a new free trade agreement (FTA), known as ANZTEC; Taiwan’s first with a non-diplomatic partner. In this report the authors attempt to detail the impact of the ANZTEC on competitive U.S. agricultural exports to Taiwan. While ANZTEC is representative of Taiwan’s desire to engage in more bilateral and regional trade agreements, questions remain about their willingness to negotiate market access for sensitive agricultural products.
