Immersive Tour for Capstone California Wine Educators  

California Wines hosted more than 20 wine educators including Masters of Wine and Master Sommeliers from 12 key international wine markets in the Golden State on an immersive tour from Jan. 22-28, 2023. These individuals are in market educators for Capstone California, A Comprehensive Study of California Wine, leading global students through California’s education program.

The group’s diverse itinerary includes masterclasses, walk-around tastings, and vineyard tours in Napa Valley, Sonoma County, Lodi, and Livermore. More than 250 wines from regions and producers from across the state will be featured in the 26 different sessions. Notable educators and journalists such as Elaine Chukan Brown, Kelli White, Virginie Boone, Karen MacNeill, Randy Caparoso, and Evan Goldstein MS will lead the sessions and masterclasses.

Industry leaders including Steve Lohr, president and CEO of J. Lohr Vineyards & Wines; Steve Matthiasson, owner/winemaker of Matthiasson Wines; Tegan Passalacqua, winemaker at Turley Wine Cellars and owner/winemaker at Sandlands; and Christine Wente, president of Wente Family Estates; Steve Sangiacomo, Partner of Sangiacomo Family Wines; Chris Hall, Owner, Long Meadow Ranch; and many other vintners and growers hosted the group and participated in discussions on winemaking and viticulture.
